Today was an exciting day, as we loaded in to the beautiful Mellow Theater at Lackawanna College. We are no longer in a temporary rehearsal space, this is the real deal. We are very fortunate to have the privilege of performing on this stage. Our crew was outstanding and dedicated to boot, working tirelessly as the snow kept falling. Our set looks simple and beautiful all put together. The lights are hung and ready to enhance the tone of the show. The mics are tested and set to make sure all the spectacular music, lines and lyrics are heard by all. Costumes have been fitted, down to the skivvies. Never have I felt more of a balance among all the different elements that make up a theatrical production. Everyone’s heart is on their sleeve, eager to tell the story of 4 friends who risk it all to make their dream come true.
Watching the first run onstage today gave the show new life. I got teary in places I hadn’t in weeks. I got goosebumps where I never had before. The energy that comes from everything coming together is evident as 4 actors and 1 keyboardist take the music and story they have been loving to live and share it with everyone who can see and hear them. I am very proud of every single person who has been a part of this production. It has been a complete pleasure to have this be my return to theatre after a 3 year hiatus. I can’t believe I’m already sad about it coming to an end, when truly, it hasn’t even begun. There are so many people out there who don’t know the story and who haven’t heard the song in the hearts of this foursome. The sharing of that story is where it will truly begin. After all, there were 9 people watching our run today. Now if those 9 people could tell 9 people, then we’ll have 18 people loving the show. Then 18 people could grow into 525, 600 people….all loving our show. -Christina Reynolds
