Below is an excerpt from our own Helen Kaucher who plays Announcer/Gal in one of our original plays!
That same day, we also went to auditions for a series of 8 one act plays set in a bathroom. (Go Gaslight!) Reid and I both got a part in the same one act.
I read the script. I discovered I had THREE lines.
Then I noticed there was a great deal of physical contact. Involving Reid’s character and half of mine.
It was really exciting. And a bit terrifying.
I had not acted before, so this was an intense play to be thrown into.
The jist is, we enter in full embrace, kissing/making out, while stumbling around the room. We end up taking our clothes off, (underwear stays on), and “doing it” in the shower. The next scene’s emotion is a shocking and drastic shift. It’s a really well written play. Thought provoking. A little mobid. I love that. Given the choice, I would absolutely have chosen to be involved in this play.
As a cast, we got into some interesting discussions about our characters and their meaning. It was a curious transformation and development.
I will divulge no more!
You’ll just have to come see them all.
Alcohol. Priests. Alcoholic priests. Drug abuse. Light romance. Space dudes and well-crafted sandwiches. Creative struggles. Me in my underwear.
Only TEN dollars for EIGHT plays?! F*cking sign me up!
We have SEVEN more performances. Plenty of chances.
Stop complaining that there’s nothing cool going on in this area.
