In October 1517, at the University of Wittenberg in northern Germany, a new fall semester begins. Hamlet, a senior, returns from studying astronomy in Poland, shaken by a revolutionary scientific theory. His mentor, Professor John Faustus, plans to marry Helen, a former nun now a courtesan. Meanwhile, Professor Martin Luther, a priest, confronts Church abuses he once swore to obey. These men's interconnected stories unfold in the comedy WITTENBERG, revealing the backdrop to Hamlet, Doctor Faustus, and the Protestant Reformation. Written by and dedicated in memory of local playwright, author, lover of all art, and very dear friend, Robert A. Anderson. A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. "He doesn't stand a chance," mutters the guard as the 12 jurors are taken into the bleak jury room.
